Keyamo Acknowledges Air Peace Remarkable Growth, Dedication

Nigeria’s minister of aviation and aerospace development, Festus Keyamo has acknowledged the remarkable growth and dedication to service by Air Peace, affirming federal government support for the airline.

The minister equally commended the airline’s success and resilience in an industry where many local carriers struggle to survive long-term.

This comes just as the minister has used the opportunity to reveal how foreign aircraft leasing companies have invited him and the Nigerian airline operators to a high-level meeting in January, 2025 on the need to offer support and financing for the local carriers.

Speaking at the anniversary of the airline recently in Lagos, the minister who highlighted Air Peace as a symbol of national pride, acknowledged its ability to compete internationally while enhancing Nigeria’s reputation in the global aviation community.

According to Keyamo: “Air Peace flies the Nigerian flag high, underscoring its role in strengthening the country’s presence on the world stage “.

Recognizing the visionary leadership of the founder and CEO of the airline, Dr Allen Onyema, the minister expressed gratitude for his accomplishments, which he said reflect it’s impact and expansion.

The minister encouraged other Nigerian airlines to adopt similar, long-term strategies, noting that Air Peace’s achievements demonstrated the possibilities achievable through sound management and commitment.

Keyamo also spoke on the ongoing efforts to broaden Nigerian aviation sector, referenced the recent studies that showed Nigeria accounts for 80% of domestic air travel in Africa, with the Lagos–Abuja route being the continent’s busiest.

According to him, Air Peace is well-positioned to meet this rising demand, setting industry standards with its expansion and quality.

He assured stakeholders of the government’s dedication, re emphasizing the federal government’s commitment to ongoing reforms that support local carriers and urged Nigerian airlines to embrace sustainable, long-term planning, promising government’s focus towards creating a supportive environment for the nation’s aviation industry to thrive.

The meeting between the aircraft lessors and the Nigerian delegation in 2025, will further enhance Nigeria’s global aviation standing.
