In line with the federal government’s local content policy, Nigeria’s minister of aviation and aerospace development, Festus Keyamo, has directed foreign airlines operating in the country to start patronising the Nigerian local caterers for thwir on-board meals.
The dirwctive takes effect from January 1st, 2025.
In a letter signed
by H.T. Ejibunu, the director overseeing the office of the permanent secretary in the ministry and forwarded to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the minister gave the directive to the foreign carriers through the regulatory body.
In the letter dated October 15, 2024, the ministry official said the directive from Keyamo takes effect from January 1.
According to Ejibunu: “I am directed by the Honourable Minister of Aviation to convey to you his decision to mandate all out-bound flights from Nigeria, especially foreign airlines to patronize local caterers for on-board meals.
“Consequently, you are hereby directed to convey the decision to all foreign airlines for strict compliance beginning from 1st of January, 2025.”
