Nigeria’s minister of aviation and aerospace development, Mr Festus Keyamo will be leading heads of aviation agencies and other stakeholders to the 13th Nigeria Aviation Awards and Ministerial Dinner tagged (NIGAV Awards).
A statement issued by the Chairman of NIGAV, Mr Fortune Idu, said necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the success of the event which will take place at the NIGAV centre, Murtala Mohammed International airport, Thursday February 22, 2024 beginning from 2 pm to 7pm.
According to Mr Idu, the NIGAV awards will feature King and Queen competition, various awards categories among others.
He said King and Queen of the Air awards were introduced because of the critical role they play.
At the coming award, cabin attendants from different airlines are expected to compete for the crown and the cash award.
According to him, the award was also to enlighten passengers and non-passengers on the importance of attendants like the pilots, engineers and other personnel in air travel.
Idu who described the sector as one of the most sensitive in Nigeria, therefore said people who in spite of the challenges and complexities continue to keep people flying, need to be recognized, rewarded and appreciated.
Meanwhile, the Acting Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Chris Najomo has assured of the organisation support for NIGAV awards event.
Najomo gave the assurance when Idu paid him a visit in his office to brief him on the activities lined up for the 13th NIGAV awards.
With the seamless endorsement of the NIGAV award by Acting Director General of NCAA, the stage os set for the annual performance assessment and rewarding event.
“Nigav centre will recorgnise the contribution made by both individuals and organisations in stiring the sector to a success in year 2023 despite the challenges which the industry has faced. Over 30 awards will be presented based on recommendations and public vote”.Idu stated
He indicated that it was important for NCAA’s endorsement of the event and to continue the effort of industry social integration.
The event he said has remarkably grown as the hallmark of the sector for rewarding excellence and inspiring healthy competition.
This year’s event will include the king and queen of the contest which is sponsored by Santos Aviation.
Acting DG was once NiGAV recipient who have excelled in piloting. This time he will be crowning the king and Queen of the air in a cabin crew contest.
