Qatar Airways celebrates 300 Qatari female workers on International Women’s Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Qatar Airways celebrated females who have been instrumental to the Group’s success.
As part of Qatar Airways’ Al Darb Qatarisation programme, over 300 Qatari women have joined Qatar Airways to date, having actively participated in building the airline’s remarkable leadership and excellence in Qatar as well as across the globe to date.
Starting with only 100 Qatari women in 2015, the Qatarisation programme now includes more than 300 ambitious women, offering them a unique opportunity to pursue their career aspirations, and receive valuable educational and training programmes, and to support and enhance their professional skills.
Today, more women choose to work as engineers and pilots, playing a pivotal role in Qatar Airways operations, and shaping the future of the aviation industry in Qatar and globally. There are currently 30 Qatari women holding engineers’ positions, as well as 4 cadet pilots, 4 pilots, and many more foreign female pilots.
Speaking on the development, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, H E Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar Airways is committed to supporting Qatari women to follow any career they want to pursue and offering every opportunity for their professional development. Qatari women, bringing their advanced education and love for challenges, are paying a major contribution to Qatar’s success, empowered by the Al Darb programmes educational aspect and professional guidance. Qatar Airways will continue with its strategy to attract female citizens, diversifying its workplace and ensuring Qatari women are fully integrated into all operations and senior leadership roles.”
Equally, the Senior Vice President, Nationalization and Special Projects, Nabeela Fakhri commented: “Qatari Women are at the forefront of leadership, able to innovate and re-shape the future of Qatar Airways and the country. We are pleased to see the progress of the Al Darb programme and its success in incentivizing Qatari ladies to take on challenging roles. We expect that the number of Qatari ladies joining Qatar Airways in the framework of the programme will grow exponentially in the following years, showcasing Qatar Airways as a great workplace for highly motivated and skilled individuals”.
Qatar Airways was named ‘World’s Best Airline’ by the 2019 World Airline Awards, managed by the international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also named ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’, ‘World’s Best Business Class’, and ‘Best Business Class Seat’, in recognition of its ground-breaking Business Class experience,
